Nashua, New Hampshire “Land Between two Rivers”

Nashua, New Hampshire, the latest municipality to switch to MapGeo, perfectly illustrates a community in a constant state of evolution. Nashua’s ongoing transformation was recently spotlighted by MRI Software’s Move-In Magnet Index, which recently crowned Nashua “the number one best city to move to in the country,” by scoring highest in safety, boasting a strong job market with roughly 0.73 jobs per resident, and maintaining a solid cost of living.
Nashua has always been defined by adaptation and shifting borders. Nashua, which is derived from an Indigenous word meaning “land between two rivers,” has some fascinating history. This includes an 1842 political rift where the community actually split into two separate, rival towns named Nashua and Nashville (now a historic district of Nashua) over a bitter dispute about where to build city hall.
Today, Nashua uses the MapGeo platform to digitally map out and manage the next phases of the city’s evolution. By visualizing their municipal GIS data layers, including their foundational data layers along with environmental wetlands, political boundaries, schooling districts, and historical/cultural points of interest, Nashua is telling the story of their city. One of Nashua’s most unique themes configured on MapGeo is the location of all the murals and street art throughout the city, with a link to the artwork.
